311mbs enough memory to play halo3 or cod4 on live?

i got the newest xbox 360 arcade, it is 512mb memory, but after nxe and everything, i have 311 mbs left. is that enough to play call of duty 4 OR halo 3 online? and do you have to pay for the map packs?
