I have one problem in game sims 2?

my sims went out in a vacation with his two kids and one non playable character.now vacation is over but non playable character is not moving from its place and sitting in car to go home what should i do i tried kill NPC with fire but it did not affect it at all now my sims are unable to go home because NPC is not sitting in vehical. pls help
