I found some duck eggs outside and am trying to raise them. Since they are wild, can I release them? When?

They are Mallard eggs, there are 8, and I found them abandoned. I know aboUt imprinting, but will they want to go off on their own at some point in time? Do they need special rehabilitation to go back into the wild? Will their lives be shortened if they go back into the wild?
