Is it true that TRIALS is from GOD,and TEMPTATION is from SATAN?

JOB was tested by his faith and God permited satan to do what he wants with a limitations. God is not the one who executes trials.Abraham was tested by GOd directly communicating and GOD commanded Abraham as to test his faithfulness.How God communicate with us now to test us? Is it through allowing satan to do bad things?
