When did vampires change from hellish undead horrors to being emo teenagers with super-powers?

Vampires have not changed since the dawn of mankind when the first vampire came into existences, And the only place that vampire actually change in in books, Stories by word of mouth and in movies.... Other that the above named vampires have remained and will always be killers of mankind........ Also vampires will never eat rats and other small animals as long as the human race exist.........
