What would be a good nickname for my friend?

I have a friend named Dave Ferris. His nickname is Sparky because his brother thought he was a puppy and wanted to name him that. However, we are in College and that **** sounds gay. Some girls call him Sparkle. I want to reclaim his manliness. Dave likes to drink, hates organized religion and is a really smart guy. He is very sociable and very high energy. He goes to the beat of his own drummer and dresses like a bum. We also have a friend named David so the nickname can't be anything like Dave, Davey or anything like that. Also, nothing like Ferris Bueller won't work either. HELP ME!!!
